24/4/06: Congratulations to Suzie Cave who has been selected
for the World Student Equestrian Games this summer!
19/4/06:
The camping trip this year
will be to Dunfanaghy in Donegal on 16th-18th June. We can
either camp (8 euro/night) or stay in a hostel (12
euro/night). Riding starts at 25 euro/hour for a beach
ride. You can stay one or both nights, and ride as much or as
little as you like. The trip is suitable for all standards of
riders and different abilities will be separated. Please

19/3/06:
Our end of year pony games
and dinner will take place on Wednesday 10th May. The games
will be at 2pm and will have a Hawaiian theme. Please wear
Hawaiian fancy dress. They will cost £10. The dinner will be
in Ruby Tuesdays on the Lisburn Road at 8.30pm, and will
provisionally cost £15. Please let us know asap if you are
interested, and give a deposit of £5 for each by Wednesday 3rd
May.

Our AGM will take place on Wednesday 26th April
at 5.15pm. Please meet in the foyer of the Peter Frogatt
Building. If you are interested in being on the committee next

We are planning a forest ride
for experienced riders at the Mourne Trail Riding Centre in
Newcastle. It will take place on Thursday 13th April and will
cost £25. Anyone interested, please

1/2/06:
Members of the club will be
helping with the equestrian event at the Special Olympics,
which will be taking place at Lessans Riding Stables in
Saintfield on 21st-25th June. If anyone is interested, they
need to download and complete the form, which can be found here.
7/1/06:
There will be a forest ride
for intermediate rides and above on Friday 27th January at the
Mourne Trail Riding Centre near Newcastle. This centre only
caters for experienced riders and there will compulsory
jumping. Cost will be around £25 for 2 hours. If you are

7/1/06:
The
intervarsities will take place this year on 17th-20th February
in Derry. Cost is £75, and includes 3 nights hotel
accommodation, entertainment Friday and Saturday nights, and a
formal on the Sunday. You compete in one of 3 events - show
jumping, dressage or prix caprilli (basic dressage with a few
small jumps). More details of these can be found on the
competitions page. If you are interested, please contact us soon as
possible, saying which event you are interested in. Trials for
all those who haven't previously competed will take place on
Wednesday 25th January at 2pm at Lessans Riding Stables in
Saintfield, and cost £6. You must let us know in advance if
you will be attending.
21/11/05:
Christmas
pony games will take place on Wednesday 14th December. Cost is
£15. There will be food, rosettes, and prizes for everyone,
and a Christmas fancy dress theme. The event is suitable for
all levels. There are pictures from last year, if you want to
see them here.
The event will be followed by Christmas dinner in the evening
at Ruby Tuesdays on the Lisburn Road. Cost for this is also
£15. A deposit of £10 should be paid by Monday 5th December,
with the balance paid by 12th.
21/11/05:
Congratulations to all those who competed at the
tetrathlon at the weekend, especially Gareth, who was 3rd in
the running (no pink rosette this year!), and Sarah Lavery,
who was 6th in the shooting (despite only having shot once
before). If anyone is interested in going to the
intervarsities (which are being held in Derry, probably on
17th-20th February), they need to start thinking about it now.
This year, the entries are being limited, with those who send
the entry forms first getting preference for any extra spaces,
so we need to know asap if you are interested. Cost will
probably be around £60 for the weekend. There are events
suitable for intermediate riders up. See the competitions
page for more information.

intermediate and advanced riders, and will include walk, trot
and canter with optional jumps. If you are interested, please

Cost will be £22 for 2 hours, and money needs to be paid by
Wednesday 23rd.
3/11/05:
We are
planning on getting club jackets. As we are sponsored by
Horseware, we will get these at cost price, plus the
embroidery costs. They will end up costing between £25 and
£50, depending on the type we get. If you are interested,

13/10/05:
This
year's tetrathlon will take place on 18th-20th November. The
approximate cost is £50. Please let us know by 19th October if
you are interested. We especially need guys, as there are two
girls and two guys on a team. You don't need to be superfit,
so give it a try. Money (or as much of it as possible) by 19th
October please. Details of what the competition entails can be
found on the competitions page.
4/10/05:
The
lessons this year will be at the following times: 1pm -
Intermediate/Advanced 2pm - Beginners/Novice 3pm -
Intermediate 4pm - Advanced Lessons must be booked EACH
WEEK YOU WANT TO RIDE. They are very popular, so please book
early. If you can't make it to the meeting, please
email.
15/9/05:
The
riding club year begins again on 28th September with the
Freshers' Bazaar. This takes place in the Snack Bar in the
Students' Union from 10am to 4pm, and you can join the club at
our stall on the left hand side. Our first meeting will take
place on Monday 3rd October at 1pm in the conference room in
the Students' Union, with our first lessons taking place on
Wednesday 5th October, times to be
confirmed.
