Next Event: Organizational Meeting Monday, 19th of July, 2006 What's Pugwash?An educational, nonpartisan, nonprofit, organization that promotes the socially responsible application of science and technology and an examination of the ethical, social, and global implications of science and technology. Pugwash examines issues such as: information tech. & privacy, genetics, cloning, weapons development & deployment, animal testing, environmental issues, and uses of space. See below for past events. Pugwash was started in 1955 by Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russell among others. It won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1995 with Joseph Rotblat for its work on nuclear disarmament.

The name comes from the site of the first conference - Pugwash, Nova Scotia, Canada.
