The aim of the Registry is to provide accurate, timely information on cancers occurring
in the population of N. Ireland to enable research, planning and education so the burden of disease may be reduced.
The Objectives of the Registry are:
- To collect, analyse and store accurate, timely and comprehensive data on cancer.
- To uphold patient and carer* confidentiality.
- To facilitate and undertake research into cancer causes, treatments and outcomes.
- To facilitate planning of cancer services for prevention, diagnosis, cure and care.
- To assist professional and public education in cancer causes, prevention, treatment and outcomes.
- To promote professional and public education in cancer causes, prevention, treatment and outcomes.
- To publish scientific reports and papers relating to cancer in Northern Ireland.
- To link nationally and internationally to increase understanding and control of cancer.
- To review activities and programmes of the Registry regularly to ensure the provision of high quality data on cancer.
- To provide appropriate information on cancer for ad hoc queries.
*Carers=Professionals or institutions involved in the screening, diagnosis, cure or care of people with cancer.
