INFORMATION

There are two terms, October/January and February/May. Courses for Bronze Medallion, Award of Merit and Distinction are of 13-16 weeks duration. Minimum age for enrolment is 14 years.

The classes are held in the Physical Education Centre, Botanic Gardens on Saturday mornings for the duration of the classes. Classes start at 8:45 including an hour and a half of waterwork and and hour of hands on life support.

The terms teaching culminates in the taking of an appropriate RLSS examination, if the candidate has reached the required standard as decided by the School Staff.

THE STANDARD OF ENTRY TO THE SCHOOL IS FOR BEGINNERS TO BE ABLE TO SWIM AT LEAST 100 METRES (4 LENGTHS) AND BE COMFORTABLE IN DEEP WATER.

For any applicant wishing to train for a higher award, the award they already hold must be current. Progressive programmes of training offer something for all ages and abilities.

Applicants must agree to abide by the rules of the school when completing the enrolment form. These are for ensuring pool safety and hygiene.

Classes will be filled based on the order of applications received, so apply early and do not be disappointed.

Admittance fee each session £1.60 for 18 years of age and over
Admittance fee each session 70p up to 18 years of age and over
Admittance fee each session 70p for QUB students showing their card

Members are also required to pay their own examination fee to the RLSS at the end of the term if being exmained for one of the Society's Awards.

Each member is required to obtain the current RLSS manuals "Life Saving" and "Life Support", these are on sale at the School.
