Queen's Ladies Gaelic Football Photos from 2000 - 2001 Kilcar Trip December 2000

The Queen's Ladies GFC annual outing for 2000 took place on 15/16th December to Kilcar, Co. Donegal. First stop of the outing was at Carryduff shopping centre to stock up on supplies and visit Santa's Grotto of course. The minibus rumbled on down the country with Maeliosa at the steering wheel, much to her displeasure. It was late on when the group reached their own private accommodation in rural Donegal. A late night visit to the local pub served to heighten the jovial atmosphere and certain members were enjoying themselves so much that they felt the need to exit the house via the first floor window. The managers really got into the 'Christmas' spirit and showed all how to descend the stairs head first, just like they do in Lapland.

Bright and breezy (queasy?) the next morning, all headed for training (of sorts) on Killybegs beach. One Kerry member found a comfortable spot for a sleep amid the sand dunes, while the rest of the sensible crew headed for an early morning dip in the 'refreshing' December sea!

The drinking started early on Saturday and by late in the evening, everyone was in good form. All headed for the local pub and it didn't know what had hit it! Wiggy's version of 'Joseph and the technicolour dreamcoat' brought the house down, while Maeliosa's 'Smelly cat' and Crilly's singing minus the sound entertained the bemused locals.

Who said there was no Santa? No less than three appeared to distribute presents to the Queen's girls and everyone got just what they had ordered and as a special treat, everyone got to meet Santa's reindeer Rudolph!

After that we still made it to Sunday morning mass. By this time the team had become quite the local celebrities or was that hooligans?

It was Sunday afternoon before the whole crew gathered themselves up and headed back to Belfast. Maeliosa finally got back to the driver's seat after a well deserved break, with practically everyone else having a go in her absence.
