Hosts Queen's University Belfast triumphed over the Poly yesterday at the Dub, Belfast to win the Ulster Universities Hatfield House/Lucazade Sport Dowd Cup on a score line of QUB 2.6 UUJ 0.9. The match was the finale to 3 days of competitive ladies football which saw eight teams battle in out for honours in wet and very windy conditions. The teams included Queen's University Belfast 1sts and 2nds, UUJ 1sts and 2nds, St Mary's Belfast, UU Magee, UU Coleraine, and guests St Mary's Strawberry Hill, London

Maura McCabe founder member of the Queen's Ladies Gaelic Club had great pleasure presenting Queen's captain Caroline Kelly with the Dowd Cup during the awards ceremony following the matches. This was the 4th time that the Malone Road University had won the cup, the last time being 1999.
