ROLL OF HONOUR

Dowd Cup Roll of Honour

The ultimate prize in Ulster Colleges Ladies Football takes its name from a former president of Cumann Peile Gael na mBan, Tom Dowd. A devoted Crosserlough, Co. Cavan clubman, Tom Dowd has had a long association with Ladies Gaelic, coaching Cavan to All-Ireland Senior glory in 1977.

The inaugural Dowd Cup was hosted by UU Coleraine with UUJ winning the competation. UUJ have dominated the competition, winning it seven times. 2004 saw UUJ lift their fifth crown in a row. Queen's have won the competation three times 1997, 1998 and 1999. The competition has traditionally been held around the third week of February , however in '95 fixture at the end of March meant a clash with the O'Connor Cup weekend. Having qualified for both, UUJ opted for the latter and thus did not participate in the Dowd Cup.
