  Mark Lamki laughs in the face of deadlines and pokes a finger in the eye of wordcounts. Known to his friends as "Mad Mark" and to the rest of the world as "the weirdo with the waistcoats", he has been a member of Queen's University Science Fiction Society since his first year as a student -- more years ago than he cares to think about! He joined the committee a year later and has never escaped, though nowadays he is only forced to be the society's librarian. Even so, he has the strange feeling he will never be free again... He was on the committee of the very first Mecon in 1998 and has been involved with every one since, though only in the last year has he returned to the committee. Now he remembers why he gave it up before, and wonders what on Earth possessed him to volunteer for it yet again. He knows he does a lot of Mecon, but he doesn't have a problem, he can give it up any time he wants. Honest. Mark says his favourite book is The Lord of the Rings unless it's The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. His favourite TV show ever may be Doctor Who, but the insanity of Farscape stirs him on some deep dark level. His favourite movie is probably The Fellowship of the Ring, but Flash Gordon makes more sense when you're drunk and is more fun to quote. If you have a problem, if no-one else can help, and if you can find him (try the bar, it's a pretty good bet), Mark (and his waistcoats) will be glad to help, or at least to run around looking for the exits!
