C. E. Murphy has unfortunately had to pull out this year's
Mecon, which she was looking forward to.
22/Aug/2008: Ian McDonald not at MeCon
We are sorry to announce that MeCon regular guest Ian McDonald has had
to pull out of this year's convention due to an impending writing
deadline. We will miss him but look forward having him back at next
year's MeCon and to his new book.
20/Aug/2008: John Vaughan wins awards
John Vaughan won two awards at the Action On Film Festival
in Pasadena this year - Best Short for his
film My Dad and For Your Troubles won the writers' award
for Best Action Sequence Short.
24/Jul/2008: No Paul Cornell
Unfortunately Paul Cornell has had to pull out of MeCon 11.
22/Jul/2008: C. E. Murphy at MeCon 11
We are delighted to announce that Alaskan born fantasy author
C.E. (Catie) Murphy
will joining us as one of our guests at this year's MeCon.
Her novels include Urban Shaman, Thunderbird Falls,
Coyote Dreams, House of Stone, House of Cards and
The Queen's Bastard.
Charles Stross new novel Saturn's Children is
published today (£15.99 in hardback). You can

The Mecon 11 crew will be at Q-Con XV
this weekend. Come and

written by Paul Cornell and drawn by Leonard Kirk,
is released this Wednesday 14th May 2008.

26/March/2008: Ian McDonald wins BSFA award
Mecon 11 guest Ian McDonald has won the 2007 BSFA Award for Best Novel with
his alternate history novel Brasyl. He was presented with
his award by Neil Gaiman at the 2008 Eastercon (Orbital).
21/Mar/2008: MeCon guests nomincated for Hugos
Mecon 11 guests Charles Stross, Ian McDonald and Paul Cornell have been nominated
for the 2008 Hugos (the Oscars of the science fiction world).
Charles Stross' novel Halting State is up for Best Novel, as
is Ian McDonald's Brasyl.
In the Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form) Paul Cornell's two
part Doctor Who story "Human Nature"/"Family of Blood" is facing
strong competition from fellow writer Stephen Moffat's "Blink".
